Municipalities and SO WIFI

  • Southern Spain is committed to digitalization and new technologies in order to get closer to its citizens and tourists
  • With the implementation of SO WIFI, the town councils seek to retain tourism on the Costa del Sol.

Several municipalities of the Costa del Sol and the province of Cadiz (Spain) have decided to start a project to digitize some of their services by implementing SO WIFI hotspots in public spaces in the region.

The project will take place at La Línea de la Concepción, the closest city to Gibraltar, and it will continue along the Costa del Sol, arriving to Malaga, Marbella and Estepona. The city council of each of these cities, once collaboration agreements are reached, will determine which locations are the most appropriate to gather information from users. In this way we will be able to work with Museums, main squares, promenades; and other public spaces.

The collaboration will start with the installation of SO WIFI in the waiting room of the Tourism Delegation and The Museum ‘Cruz Herrera’ both located at La Línea de la Concepción.

The final objective is to offer free Wi-Fi service in tourist areas to better understand citizens and tourists, to get to know their needs and tastes and, above all, to open two-way communication channels using new technologies and social networks.

Through SO WIFI users will be constantly updated with the news that the municipality wants to share, activities, schedules and events. In addition, the Tourism Delegation will capture the data of tourists to build loyalty throughout the year and invite them again in different seasons.

From SO Connect we are very happy to communicate this news as we see how our product is applicable to many markets and helps the communication between our customers with theirs, one of So Connect’s main goals.
